FAQs

Is my warranty valid only if the regular maintenance work is done at the dealership?

No, you can still have quality regular maintenance work done outside of the dealership without invalidating your warranty. Dealerships and automakers, by law, are not allowed to force you to have the service done at a dealership for a new-car warranty to remain valid. Make sure to keep all records of routine maintenance and auto repair done on your vehicle regardless of where the work was done.
Tire Works technicians have the highest ACE-qualifications in the industry. We can help you extend the life of your car with expert care that will meet or exceed your warranty requirements. Schedule an appointment now to protect your vehicle’s warranty.

What does preventative maintenance include?

Regular, scheduled maintenance can save you money over time by preventing major repair expenses. We recommend preventative maintenance checkups at 30,000, 60,000, and 90,000 miles. Typical preventative maintenance services may include:
Lube, oil, and filter change
Check and fill fluid levels
Replace air filter
Check wiper blades
Brake inspection
Check battery and charging system
Replace fuel filter
Check differential
Check charging system
Inspect belts and hosesPlease get in touch for more details on the car maintenance service recommended for your specific vehicle, and be sure to check our coupons page for valuable savings.

How do I check my oil?

In between oil changes or routine maintenance on your car, you can check the oil yourself. You can improve your car’s performance and avoid unexpected breakdowns that may result from low oil levels. Follow these simple steps to check the oil in your car:
Park your car on a level surface and wait for the engine to cool down.
Locate your dipstick, typically a bright yellow ring, which should be on top of your oil tank.
Pull your dipstick out and wipe it off with a rag or cloth.
Insert the dipstick fully, and pull it out. Your dipstick reading will fall between an L and F on the dipstick (Low to Full). Some models have two cross-hatch marks instead of letters. It’s best to add oil when the mark falls near the L mark (or the lower cross-hatch mark), but be careful not to overfill past the F (or the upper cross-hatch).

How often should I get the oil changed in my car?

This one action is probably the most effective at extending the life of your vehicle. Regular oil changes are essential and should be scheduled every 3,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. During your oil change service, the chassis of the car will be lubricated and the oil filter will be checked. If you live in an extreme climate like Las Vegas, your car is an older model, or your driving habits include high mileage, ask your Tire Works technician if your oil should be changed more often. To help you save on your next oil change, we offer oil change and fluid specials.

Does my “Check Engine Light” mean I should immediately stop driving my car

When your check engine light is on, your vehicle’s computer is telling you that something may be wrong, so let Tire Works check it out as soon as you can. We can quickly hook the car’s computer up to a diagnostic computer to determine what is triggering the CEL to come on. We can then tell you what needs to be done to correct the problem. Schedule an appointment to take care of that check engine light now.

When do I need to replace my belts and hoses?

Belts and hoses wear quickly because they are subjected to a lot of use every time the car runs. They will eventually crack, leak, or fray due to exposure to heat, the vibration of the engine, and more. If not promptly replaced and maintained, worn belts and hoses could spell disaster for your vehicle’s performance. Your Tire Works technician can evaluate belts and hoses more thoroughly than a visual inspection, and then let you know if any need to be replaced before you are stranded in an emergency. Find the Tire Works location most convenient for you.

Do I need to have my brakes checked regularly?

Bad brakes can lead to disaster. To determine the need for brake service and catch problems early, your brake system should be inspected regularly. Here at Tire Works, your technician will perform routine brake service when the car is brought to the shop for its regularly scheduled maintenance. We will inspect every aspect of your brake system and also provide a brake fluid flush when needed. If you have a concern before your maintenance is scheduled, don’t wait. Don’t forget to check our coupons page for savings on services!

What signs indicate the brakes need to be checked outside of routine maintenance?

Visit your Tire Works shop if you hear squealing, grinding, or scraping when you brake. Other signs are a feeling of sponginess when you brake or the car pulls to one side. Also, you might see fluid leaking underneath your car or the car bounces when you stop short. And, of course, watch the dash for the brake light; if it comes on, have them checked as soon as possible. Regular brake service can help extend the life of your vehicle. Schedule an appointment today.

What indicates that a tire needs to be replaced?

Many drivers ignore the signs of tires wear, which can lead to a flat or blowout at the worst possible moment. It is important to do a visual check of our car’s tires regularly to avoid inconvenient or dangerous situations when you least expect them. Look for uneven wear on a tire or more (or less) wear on the front than the back, a sawtooth appearance on the outer edge of the tread, excessive wear on one side of any tire, and cups or dips in the tire. If you have any questions about tire maintenance tips, consult with one of our ASE-certified technicians about our tire repair and replacement services. We will be happy to answer your questions. Request a quote today on new tires.

How often does my AC need to be checked?

Summers are extremely hot in our area, so dependable air conditioning is a necessity. Today’s AC systems are fairly complex, and new improvements are always being added. Without regular maintenance, an air conditioner loses about 5% of its original efficiency annually. To avoid more costly car AC repair in the future, have the system checked regularly. Here at Tire Works, we assess the system, including all modern computerized components, and handle all environmental disposal concerns. Check here for the closest location and get your air conditioning back!
